The Year of the Hugo

The past break was full of funness, amazingness, and overall greatness (the only one that is an actual word!). As I woke up the morning of Hugo's birthday I couldn't believe that I had a one year old! How does the time burglar sneak up on me like that?! It has been the greatest year with my guy. I always knew I wanted to be a mom, but I just didn't realize how awesome it would turn out to be. I wouldn't trade all the rough nights, throw ups, or blow outs for anything because it has been so worth it. There's not a day that I don't smile or laugh because of him. There's not a day that I don't think what a cool little dude he is. There is not a day that I am not grateful that he is in my life.

So, here's to you, Hugo!
Here's to your infectious belly laughs.
Here's to your crazy, cockatoo hair.
Here's to your wonderfully, delicious chubby cheeks.
Here's to another year of you!

Fall Time

Fall blew in today. It decided to blow right in today with cool, crisp weather without even asking me if I was ready for it! It's a good thing that I (read Taylor) unpacked my winter clothes already or fall and I may have been on bad terms with each other...

So, with baby Hugo's (I will call him a baby while I still can!) birthday around the corner I have been busy preparing for his birthday parties. Nothing too crazy, but I had some decorations from my past classrooms that I can recycle so I have actually so far only spent 5.00 on his birthday. However, that is bound to increase since I still have to get stuff for his cupcakes and what not.

Anyway, with the chilly fall wind the spirit of gratefulness has also fluttered into my bones! I am so grateful for so many things, but on top of my list I am grateful for a healthy, wonderful family. I am grateful for the small things that bring a smile to my lips and things that make me bubble over in laughter. Truly, the list of things I am grateful for is endless. Too many times I catch myself wishing my life was different in some aspect or the other, but I live the good life. I really, really do! I just need to appreciate it!

Anyway, the bed is calling me and it is late. Goodnight!

Photo Fun

I noticed the lack of posts is directly correlated to when I began to work again! ha! I won't make promises about trying to be better...

Life has been fun. I enjoy my weekends so much. Taylor and I try to go on walks and have an open weekend. I just don't like it when there is too much to do. We recently rearranged our apartment (when I say we I mean Taylor) and I love it. It almost feels like we've moved into a new apartment. I'll have to take pictures sometime soon to show y'all.

Hugo is doing wonderful. :) When he turned 10 months it was like he just decided he was ready to do all sorts of stuff. The day after he turned 10 months he began to cruise around, get himself off the bed by himself, and clapping. Now, he signs, "talks" on the phone, says no, waves hello and good-bye, turns the lights on and off, grabs the dog's tail, loves to play in forts, and unfortunately he loves to play in the dog's kennel and in the dog's water bowl (yuck!).

My favorite part of the day is when I get home and Hugo crawls rapidly on his chubby arms and legs and repeats, "mamma, mamma, mamma" over and over with excitement as if to say, "Where have you been all my life!" Then he nuzzles in my neck and tickles my chin with his soft hair. It's what I look forward to every day. That's what gets me through the day of teaching angsty tweens (so much drama). That's what helps me remember all the good things in my life. Taylor included of course. Anyway, here is my really chubby, cute baby.

8 Months old!-

I haven't been very good at blogging about Hugo's monthly accomplishments and even this post is a week late since Hugo turned 8 months last Saturday. whoops!

Hugo currently is:

-Crawling...as noted in the post below
-Pulling himself up to standing position
-babbling like crazy (he's been doing this for awhile)
-dancing (especially to that car commercial with Eminem's Lose Yourself song on it)
-Clapping toys together to discover sounds
-eating solids, but doesn't really like it quite yet

Hugo lovessss

-Being with mommy
-Trying to pet the dog
-Anything that rattles
-Pulling his high chair around the kitchen (I think he likes the scraping noise?)
-balls
-using all of his six teeth to gnaw on anything!
-big boy baths in the tub
-showers with mom
-playing with his hair!! There's so much of it now on top and he just reaches up and plays with it. It's very soft.
-being tickled
-spoons

Hugo does not like:

-when his Uncle takes his toy. He makes a grunting noise and goes after it. His Uncle Armando, however, is much more agile than he is (he's 5 months older). Poor, Hugo.
-when mom leaves the room
-being put down for a nap even though he's tired
-hats or when clothes are put on.

It's been fun and exciting to see Hugo grow up. He's really just a great babe all around. :)

Mobile

Look who's mobile! Commence Project Turtle (or also known as baby proof the entire house!)!!

He's been working at it for awhile, but it was Wednesday night when he really started to take off. He never army crawled, but rolled around for awhile. He used his long length to lay out and grab something far away. It's been a lot of fun, but a little bit stressful since the apartment is far from safe (which Hugo made abundantly clear as he crawled around and got into everything!). That's been my job yesterday and now today. ;)

Go baby, go!

Of course he doesn't come for me, but for a bottle (and the bottle wasn't even his! All that work and no pay off!).

Sum(mer) fun!

So summer has been so fun. I've been really enjoying my time with Hugo and I think he has too. :) We had a family reunion. It was a blast! We had a talent/No talent show, an Iron Chef competition, swimming, and of course pictures. Hugo had fun with all the little ones (there were 9 of them under 7!)

(Hugo's cheeks make him looks sad, but I assure you he is a happy baby!)

We also celebrated the Fourth by going to see the awesome fireworks in Granbury! They were awesome and Hugo did great for being up so late.

And the fun didn't stop there! Can you believe it!? We love chick fil a and we decided to get a free meal by dressing up as cows. It was awesomely fun and we have awesome friends who are willing to dress up as cows and go with us.

Hugo's ears came out more as bat ears, but isn't he the most cutest cow/bat baby eveeerrr? He makes my heart melt into butter. :)

Speaking of the Hugo, that kid is big! I wish he wouldn't grow up so fast, but at least I'm getting stronger from it. At his 7 month appt he weighed in at a healthy 21.7 lbs and is 29 1/2". He's 89 percentile for weight and 97th percentile for height. He's still my little baby!

Hugo's first real food!

Well, tonight was a very exciting event for the Seibold family. Hugo had his first taste of rice cereal! Exciting, I know, but he really seemed to enjoy it. He was probably really thinking something along the lines of, "why did you guys wait so long to give me the goods?" Anyway, here's the video, hope you enjoy!
